Recurrent Mouth Ulcers

Who gets recurrent mouth ulcers?

Ulcers are very common. Most people will suffer from single ulcers at one time or another. However, over 20% of the population have recurrent mouth ulcers at some time in their lives.

Often they begin in childhood or adolescence, but most people grow out of them by their late twenties. In many cases, several members of the family may suffer from these ulcers, which is due to a family tendency and not infection.

People with braces or dentures are especially prone to mouth ulcers as appliances may rub causing soreness.
